About Me

I’m Dido and I have always had a love and passion for food! My earliest memories stem back to the simple enjoyment of tomato sandwiches as a child, through to the love of visiting my local deli in Oxford to soak up the sights and wonderful smells.  I remember at the time thinking how I would love to own something similar and venture into this world as my future career.  Growing up, food was a reason to celebrate – on special occasions my family home would be filled with beautiful home cooked meals and elaborately laid tables, whether that was for a birthday or an anniversary celebration.  I was taught from an early age that food was there to be enjoyed, savoured and to create memories from.

Fast forward a few years, after studying Latin at The University of Nottingham, I went straight into working in an office environment, which I felt never fully suited me.   It was then that I decided to fully pursue my interests as I took the leap into the world of food to train at Leith’s School of Food and Wine, an award winning cookery school based in London.  From there, I went on to working at the wonderful Le Caprice restaurant for three years, where I gained a wealth of experience across all sections.  My next journey was to work at the popular French restaurant, The Bleeding Heart where I was a Junior Sous Chef, before returning back to the Caprice Group again, this time working for Daphne’s.  I loved the buzz of London and the fast paced environment of working in busy kitchens under the watch of talented and inspirational Head Chefs.

I returned back to Thame in Oxfordshire to raise my family, but my heart never left the world of food and being a Chef!  This is when dido’s fine foods was launched.  I had a desire to take everything I had learned from my time in London and create my own catering and food consultancy company. I have been fortunate to work with some wonderful clients ranging from being a private chef for small, bespoke dinners to full-scale events and weddings.  My passion really lies with helping my clients to create food and menus, which are not only delicious but also memorable.  I love working on and overseeing each project, assisted with the help of my fabulous team.

More recently due to the Covid pandemic, I have been able to launch dido’s @ home.  This is my new weekly menu, which is delivered to homes within a ten mile radius of Thame.  Using seasonal ingredients, I create a delicious, weekly three course menu, which can be heated and easily assembled at home.  Restaurant quality food but enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, during these unprecedented times.
