As the weather gets warmer and the evenings get longer, it is time to start thinking about summer events. Going outside for a picnic is one of our favourite activities in the spring and summer months. Get the kids away from their tablets and phones, get out the old rounders set and celebrate the warm weather with a tasty lunchtime picnic on the weekends. Creating the perfect picnic doesn’t need to require hours in the kitchen, with our tasty top tips!
There are several ways you can style a summer picnic depending on how much time you have and the type of food you want to eat. You could choose a classic selection of picnic foods, including finger sandwiches, potato salad with spring onions, a selection of cold meats and cheese and, of course, a classic selection of summer fruits! Or you could choose a more decadent array, with smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, Mediterranean couscous, and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
These types of picnics are great for the warmer seasons, but what if you want to go one step further? With many social events in the summer calendar, you can arrange a truly special picnic-style array to enjoy. For instance, a day at Ascot could be made even nicer with char-grilled courgettes, asparagus, almonds and slow-roasted tomato salad, or beetroot, lentil and kale vegan rolls. You can enjoy a sweeter treat too, with orange and almond cake bites, or mini rich brownies to complement your champagne.
A day at the races, or celebrating any form of sporting occasion, can benefit from a selection of great food. Recently, we have catered for hen parties, providing a selection of buddha bowls, canapes, and sweet treats, to create the perfect celebration regardless of the venue being indoors or outdoors.
These dishes are just a flavour of the buddha bowl selection we can create for a summer event, should you want to outsource the most stressful part of any event! If you are creating a picnic yourself, we have some top tips to help the preparation go as smoothly as possible:
